Chowan College was founded in 1848 as a Baptist Female Institute. It is now a four-year co-educational
college with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students.The administration building "The Columns" was erected in 1851. It was constructed of locally-made bricks and serves as the administration building of the college. Originally it housed the students, classrooms, and offices. |
