In Mount Tabor the oldest home in Washington County is being restored by
the Historical Society of Washington county.
Over 200 years old, the 12 X
20-foot wood Davenport home is unusual because it was the home of a common
man, unlike Somerset Place Plantation
a majestic plantation also located in the
county.
Daniel Davenport used pyramid-shaped cypress blocks for a
foundation because he could not afford brick.
