King - Bazemore House

King - Bazemore House
The 1763 King-Bazemore House was built by William King, Bertie County planter and cooper. Purchased by the Reverend Stephen Bazemore in 1840, it remained in his family until his descendants donated it to the Historic Hope Foundation, Inc. in 1974. In 1978, the house was moved from its original location five miles along NC 308 to its present location at Hope Plantation.

Its T-stack chimneys, brick ends laid in Flemish bond, gambrel roof, shed dormers, and paneled ''hall and parlor'' interior make the house a remarkable expression of mid-18th century domestic architure.

The King-Bazemore House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
