Tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Albemarle area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Luxury condo with river views, private parking, and steps from Pailin's Alley has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
