How to find the best Albemarle area rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Albemarle area area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Waterfront Beauty! Incredible Sunsets, Exotic Birds and Gorgeous Water Views! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Albemarle area rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
